Game not saving anymore

The game was saving fine after I installed it. Next day it loaded correctly, but progress was never saved (day 14). I restarted a new game (after I backed up the saved game files), left right away and looked for any changed files on my PC - nothing. When I tried to "Continue" it actually reloaded my day 14 save instead of the new one.

Also Steam is definitely incorrectly showing played time, not sure how it is for the rest of you. Furthermore played time seems to have changed after I restarted the game (went from 72 hours to 17 hours)

It appears I'm not the only one with the problem and it hasn't been fixed till now. Pretty weak... This probably is a reason for refund? I like the game but it simply is not playable and it seems it only affects Steam version. Does this mean that basically if I download pirated game, it would be ok?

As a matter of principle I always blacklist developers/publishers whose pirated games work considerably better than original ones.
