Do you know how exactly does that effect work?
I recall to be one level less injured after some escapades but it does not always work.

Normally taking a sick or wound character to scavenging is not a good idea it usually contribute to get his condition worse. However there is a few exemptions.
1. Go to the hospital and get free bandages (only for wounded characters) doesn’t work with heavy wounded and mortally wounded as they can't be taken for scavenging.
2. The game has random system in effect, every wounded or sick character have chance to get better or worse or stay the same condition every day. To get 95% healing effect you need to do the following:
1. Take 2 meals by the character for the status "Well fed"
2. Give him bandages if he is hurt or medicine (real not herbal)
3. Keep him warm at +15 degree
4. Keep him well rested in bed (no guard or scavenging duty)
This way you will have an next day improvement almost 100% guaranteed if you missing something, then there is a chances that character condition will stay the same or get worsen, however there is always slight probability of improvement even if you are not doing anything.
In case of sickness the character that is taken to the scavenging is not affected by low temperature in the house, that may contribute to his improvement if the things are really cold.
