7 Additional survivors (And currently survivors changes)

This idea is not mine, I just give an idea to the author of this original idea, about the alcoholic character. I post this here, cause it can get lost in Steam, there are a lot of discussion there. I also post this here, because I want this idea to be done! This can add more and more hours to the game, and a lot of different possibilities.

Original idea by hjh965 (Steam forums).

Currently there are 12 survivors.

More is better.

And I am going to list some of the currently available survivors that need some improvements.


1. Gaston (Night-shift security guard)

"Worked at Pogoren Peacekeeper Security Service. I could've left the city without hesitation when the civil war news was announced, I didn't have a family to protect in here; But it was the money that tempted me. My company didn't want the employees to leave, so they offered them, including me way more higher pay than before. I accepted it and stayed. Now I regret my decision.
I used to have night duty. I can fight well against trespassers, and I also sleep less than others. Just don't overestimate my guard experience and put me on a military-grade firefight."

Strength
- Faster fatigue recovery : 25% faster fatigue recovery when sleeping on Day
- Shelter defense efficiency : Does two-man serving when guarding the shelter.

Weakness
- Smoker
- Coffee drinker

Personality
- Altruistic

2. Evan (Relic hunter)

"What good is a relic hunter when it comes to survival? Well, let me tell you that I'm a f***ing professional, not just an amateur acting brand new, okay? I found two form of animal potteries that are relics of Maya civilization in Mexico, and Mesopotamian civ's clayboard written in ancient letters in Turkey! What, you think I'm a boaster? Take a look at this watch. Expensive swiss stuff, okay??
My eyesight is 2.0, and I have sharper ears than others. That's why I was able to avoid dangers and find those precious treasures. And other s***ers wasn't."

Strength
- Farther vision : 25% farther maximum vision range.
- Sharper ears : 25% longer hearing radius.

Weakness
- Coffee drinker

Personality
- Egoistic

3. Philipp (Healthy physical laborer)

"Hey, cheer up! We can't just sit down and fear the war like a kid! What do you want me to do? Dig? Carry? I used to work at a company called Pogoren Utopia Construction, I can do hard works that normal people aren't familiar with! I may be smaller than other common construction workers, but I've never suffered illness since I was a baby!
I recover from injury so fast that my co-workers used to call me 'roly poly'! I don't go down easily!"

Strength
- Faster wound recovery : 25% faster wound recovery (Benefits both sleeping and bandage cure).
- Good Immune System : Does not start his first day in the shelter with sickness, and slowly bulids up resistance bonus against sickness (+ 2% per day, bonus dissipates when he is ill)
- Healthy : 25% more HP than average
- Construction expert : 50% faster digging, prying and sawing speed (Benefits both barehand work and non-barehand work).

Weakness
- None

Personality
- Altruistic

4. Brian (Inventor)

"You don't get the chance to see an inventor in these days, I understand your curiosity. A lot of creative and revolutionary products have already hit the store, very difficult to find a place for another idea. My wife ran away while I was sleeping at night, because we were starving and deeply in debt. My constant contract failure was the factor. And as if it couldn't get any worse, the civil war has started.
Even though I don't have any innovative accomplishments to show you, actually, I have something in mind for this war. Pass me the ingredients, and I'll make useful stuffs for ourselves."

Strength
- Inventor's plan : Grants access to additional blueprints, such as the following :
* 'Fuel Cost-Efficiency Upgrade' unlocks an option that requires 2 woods for making 3 fuel. (30 components, 20 woods, 4 parts and 2 electricity part required)
* 'Air Shoe Pads' grants +10% mobility bonus to all survivors. (40 components, 2 woods and, 3 parts required)
* 'Bear Trap' can be used to defend trespassers at night. Two bear traps counts as a guard manpower. (6 components, 3 woods and 2 parts required each. Counts as a consumable weapon, but scavengers cannot equip it.)
* 'New Backpack Design ' grants +1 backpack slot bonus to all survivors. (65 components, 5 woods and 10 parts required)

Player loses access to these blueprints if Brian is dead.

Weakness
- Insufficient Exercise : 15% slower walking and running speed than normal
- Coffee Drinker

Personailty
- Altruistic

5. Claire (Abandoned orphan)

"I searched trash cans for food when I was six years old. I learned to steal and pickpocket from stupid people when I was eight. I also stabbed a f***er who was drunk and tried to ♥♥♥♥ me. Don't you dare tell me I did the wrong thing, I had to survive. Have you ever helped me when I were in trouble? No? Then mind your own f***ing business.
I'm great at backstabbing those pigs out there. I can steal supplies from them too. You'll thank me a lot and beg me to do another favor for the 'family', I swear.

Strength
- Stealth : Sneaks quiety
- Backstab expert : 25% knife backstab damage bonus
- Self-centered : Prevents negative emotion from happening, except when a family member kills an innocent or the corresponding person suffers withdrawal symptoms.

Weakness
- Nutritional imbalance : 50% less HP than average.
- Self-centered : Prevents positive emotion from happening, and family members from encouraging him/her.
- Small physique : 25% slower recovery from stagger
- Impatience : More likely to rob and abandon the shelter when suffering.
- Smoker

Personality
- Egoistic

6. Anna (Top student)

"What’s in my backpack? Of course there are textbooks and literatures in it!! I am, s***, was always at the head of the Pogoren Private Highschool. Yes, one of the most superb highschools in this country, so I don’t need to tell you I’m by far the best student. I cannot... just cannot withstand what is happening right now, those ignorant people took away my time to study! I don’t care about the war, I care about my full scholarship! I missed the last rescue convoy when my rivals didn’t, so after this war ends they’ll absolutely steal the ‘top student’ title from me! I must keep studying in order to prevent that!!
...... *Sighs* Fine! I... I promise I’ll help our people when they need me! But don’t you dare burn my precious books for firewood. If you did, then I’ll kill you!!"

Strength
- Extensive reading : Provides 3 books at her first day in the shelter.

Weakness
- Bookworm : The corresponding people’s emotion status depends on the present number of the books. 10 or more books provide +2 positive emotion bonus. 5~9 books give +1, and 4 books give no bonuses. Finally, 3 books or below exerts a negative emotion penalty and prohibits the elimination of negative emotion.

Personality
- Egoistic

7. Andre (Frustrated bodybuilder) Idea by KroNoX

"D*** it, I WANT MY ALCOHOL!! Where the f***...... Wait, where am I...? Right, you brought me to your people’s shelter. S***, sorry about that...
......I miss my Laura so much. Who? ...my ex-wife. When I took the top spot in Pogoren Bodybuilder Championship and became famous, I started visiting various adult entertainment district with some new friends that are also popular as well. When she heard the news, instead of getting angry, she just quietly advised me not to go there. But I ignored. ...A few weeks later, when Laura found me while I was tossing about with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the bed, she left me and never came back. I should’ve listened to her, I can’t help but keep thinking her... d*** it...... D*** IT!!
...I’m sorry, but just leave me alone. S***, I really want some whiskey...... what? “If I get you some alcohol, will you please help us”? ......okay, just give me the DRINK NOW!!"

Strength
- Strong drinker : Requires 3 moonshines in order to get drunk.
- Alcohol addict : 1 moonshine grants +1 positive emotion bonus.
- Moody person : Confers +5 backpack size and +15% walking/running speed bonus when he/she is positive.
- Healthy : 25% more HP than average.
- Strong Arm : 25% melee damage and stagger bonus.
- Big physique : 25% faster recovery from stagger.

Weakness
- Weakened muscle : -4 backpack size is permanently applied, and this cannot be removed under any circumstances.
- Alcohol addict : A negative emotion penalty is given if the corresponding person has not drunk a moonshine within 3 days.
- Moody person : Exerts -7 backpack size and -20% walking/running speed penalty when he/she is negative.
- Blamer : Has a high chance to cause an argument that exerts a negative emotion penalty to the two when the corresponding person is negative. An argument also has a low chance to become a fight that inflicts -1 wound phase to both.
- Impatience : More likely to rob and abandon the shelter when suffering.

Personality
- Altruistic

- 14 (Weakened muscle applied)



These are my ideas of new survivors.
And also, I would like to see some improvements for some currently available survivors.




1. Anton & Cevta
- Give them 'Encouragement Efficiency Bonus' that grants 50% faster encouragement speed .

They already have the worst backpack size, and their abilities are very hard to understand (Not to mention a certain one's 'Talented lawyer'). So most people regard them useless.
Because they're elder than most survivors, they should have more life experience. So the two can cheer depressed and broken survivors up based on their past, more effectively encouraging them in the process.
They just need ANY buffs right now, and one of the fair improvements are giving them an additional support bonus.



2. Pavle
- Give him 35% chance to evade a bullet only when running (And show us the visual effect or animation of him evading a bullet as well).

Faster running speed is useful in these situations :
A : Day stage, when you want someone to go to the pinpointed location quickly.
B : Night stage, when you have no enemies in a scavenging place.
C : Night stage, when you ruined the risky stealth and should make your survivor run away.
D : Night stage, when a neutral NPC suddenly changed and expresses aggression towards you, so you felt threatened and try to run away.

A situation always happen at Day stage, so faster running speed becomes handy.

B situation... It's either one of three cases; You are scavenging the easiest place (Like Abandoned Cottage) or caution advised map that every survivor can just run like a 100m sprinter, or you killed the entire citizens & soldiers in Pogoren so you don't need to worry about anything. It does not happen that often, and even if it happened everyone can just run like Pavle does.

C situation shouldn't happen in the first place.

D situation may happen. But it happens so rarely that you'll even forget it, I've experienced it only once in a 'Central Square' as well. The merchant suddenly shouted "♥♥♥♥, that's mine!" when I hadn't touched any of someone's private properties. I was scared because two armed soldiers next to him were trying to shoot me, but my Arica ran away without taking any damage. And if you're going those places for trades, you'll always choose Katia, not Pavle.

He is obviously not meant for stealth kill or stealthy scavenge that involves danger either, because first, developers didn't want us to murder every single NPC in Pogoren - you can sense this by seeing the severe negative emotion penalty - and second, if you want to scavenge stealthly, why would you pick Pavle instead of Arica? Pavle just runs fast, he makes the same size of noise as normal survivors. I can understand when you say "I don't have Arica", but can't when you say "Pavle can run away safely when he's in danger". Arica prevents that danger from happening IN THE FIRST PLACE.


To sum up, Pavle's fast running skills is only viable at Day stage; His only strength is running faster to finish the chores. But the another problem is the shelter has quite amounts of ladders and some holes that faster running speed cannot be applied. The overall performance of his power just feels 'slightly good'.
So that's why Pavle needs some improvements. I came up with a scenario; just like the D situation I mentioned, but instead the merchant that suddenly changed not only shouted but also brought up his shotgun to kill the survivor, and your survivor just started to run away.

The sufficient chance to evade an enemy bullet will increase the Pavle's survivability enough. 35% is a chance that can often happen, but is a luck you can't exploit. It'll especially counter the shotgun better than the other firearms, because the shotgun shells has pellets and each one has to pass a 1/3 probability test. And this bonus fits well with his native skill 'Fast runner'. You won't easily hit a fast-moving object.

With this buff, you can send him to very dangerous locations where stealth may be too hard to utilize, and you have to expect revelation. And if you don't have Katia, he'll also be a good candidate to send for trades that turn out to be trap, so he won't easily die by them.

I disagree with you. The game itself makes balance even if your character is OP at home, he could get sick, wounded or die while scavenging.
