stashing and unstashing items is already time consuming. since your house inventory was never designed to support this you always need guys cooperating to pull items in and out for crafting and trading and such, when they should be resting or working.
rather than trying to bury this mechanic they should just run with it imo, and work some raid modifiers into this. like a second tier of storage or something, say you leave your base completely undefended with no fortification, then it may be possible for them to find your stash.
it is needed for lone surivors to be playable anyway, there is chance for your starting game to be a single character, usually Marko. fortification is useless in this scenario, and you are at mercy of being robbed clean every single day, no matter how you patch the place up. I dealt with this by just carrying valuables with me at night, but this really kills your progress due to lack of slots which are already limited.
