Polygamy in Islam

In order for a man to be allowed to take more than one wife, he must treat his wives equally in terms of spending, dress, living conditions, and even the gifts he gives them. He should also devote equal time and attention to each of his wives. Therefore, in Islam, marrying another wife requires more responsibility on the husband towards his wife. It is not simply a service to a man's desires for carnal pleasure.
